Here are some tips to keep in mind:

We recommend not painting the tiles before the installation because you risk warping the tiles, especially if you’re working with a flat design. That will make installation way more difficult.

Sometimes the edges of the tiles can be a bit rounded, and when installed together, you may see little cracks in the cross sections. That’s why you should get some white paintable caulk and apply it whenever you see these small cracks. This way, you’ll have a nice and smooth transition between the tiles, and you will hide any imperfections. 

After that, painting the tiles will give them a nice and smooth finish.

You don’t need any special paint for styrofoam tiles. We recommend using plain ceiling paint. However, when choosing your paint roller, get one with a rougher texture to make sure you cover any indentations.
